My holiday traditions have changed over time. As our family gets bigger – with new marriages and weddings on the horizon – it’s inevitable that our old Italian-Canadian traditions are transforming and becoming new ones.
At first these changes were hard for me to accept. Considering I didn’t get to open my pyjamas from Santa until I got home around 1:00am, and snapchat my cousins instead of being with them while I changed – it wasn’t all that bad! The snapchat videos were hilarious.
I know that the most important thing about the Holidays is spending time with your family and the people you love most. Sometimes that gets forgotten among the hustle and bustle of gift buying, all of the Christmas events crammed into one week, or holding on to old traditions.
At the end of it all, Christmas Eve was a success, though I didn’t win at family Tombola (bingo) this year. I wouldn’t have wanted to spend it with anyone else. The hilarity with my cousins, and sister-to-be (Flo), doesn’t stop here.
Happy Holidays from me to you!
