Playa Cabana Hacienda // Let’s Go Mexican

Local, healthy Mexican food in TORONTO! That is what Playa Cabana Hacienda is all about and I had a taste, first hand, this past weekend.

Mexican food is all the rage right now, its super trendy in case you missed the memo. Fish Tacos to burritos – people are obsessed – and loving the spicy, authentic flavours. Suni and I wanted to try something new, and all her work peeps have been ranting and raving about Playa Cabana Hacienda – the 14 Dupont Street location – there are three locations across this city.

IMG_4949It all began with a Tequila and Grapefruit Juice cocktail…salty tastiness at its finest! It was called the PALOMA [1 ½ oz GRAPEFRUIT INFUSED TROMBA BLANCO, CITUS SYRUP, LIME]Then we had to get the GUACA FRESCA (w homemade chips), and thank goodness we did because this guacamole is delectable!

Next, it came down to choosing a couple of tacos from the menu, which is obviously harder than you think. We asked our waitress what her favourite tacos were, and she kindly shared, so I went with one of her selections: LANGOSTA Half lobster, platano coleslaw. I am a lover of all seafood, so it was a natural choice. The creamy-ness of the coleslaw mixed with the fresh lobster was to die for. I couldn’t eat it any slower than I did because the flavours were bursting in my mouth!

I highly recommend this taco joint for its charismatic servers, fresh food, and delicious cocktails. It is a bit on the pricey side, but what HIPSTER, TRENDY place isn’t expensive in Toronto? Delicious.
