Snakes and Lattes

IMG_4434Cold weather is on its way, so why not participate in a Game Night? They’re amazing. If you host one yourself, or if you go to Snakes and Lattes, doesn’t change the fact that this good’ol fashion fun will have you laughing so hard that you cry!

No need to be a hardcore gamer, in fact there are so many games at Snakes and Lattes – 3,000 board and card games – that you never know what may spark your interest. Isabella, my cousin, and I had been dying to go here. This past summer, we met up one evening for some family fun. To our surprise, neither of our moms wanted to join us, even though I know my mother loves to play. All I knew, was that I didn’t want to play a game that we had already had our hands on. What’s the point of paying a $5 entrance fee to just play scrabble again with each other? (Did I mention that the last time Isabella and I played, I beat her? Well, I did.)

There was one down side, so because Snakes and Lattes is the only of its kind in Toronto, the wait time can be intense. We had to wait about 1.5 – 2 hrs before getting a table. (This is what led to our adventures in Honest Eds.)

IMG_4437Once inside, we ordered ourselves some tea, and began to peruse the game shelf. Little did we know that we’d stumble across a Grey’s Anatomy Trivia Board Game! Pulled. We sat down for some extreme laughs at the Complication Cards that describe scenes from various episodes (season 1 through 4 or 5 I think). With some grammatical errors in the descriptions that made the cards hard to read, Is and I had a blast recalling who did what in the show. Avid watchers since the beginning, we found it difficult and hilarious when asked, “who tied the pregnant woman’s tubes after she gave birth?” – haha!

IMG_4439With classics like Trouble, you’ll have no trouble returning to your childhood. Is and I were sitting on the edge of our seats. Both wanting to win so badly, so we could claim bragging rights. With the middle dice roller button a little wonky we began to make up our own rules in case you rolled the same number twice in a row. Nonetheless, it was hilarious! No one wants to be landed on and sent back to the beginning of the course. Shit got real.

There are games at Snakes and Lattes for every age group, and all types of people. In the front there are oodles of board games that you can also purchase, which makes it easy to bring home your favourites! I highly recommend that you visit it, but be sure to expect a bit of a wait for a table. Entrance is only $5, like I said, and usually a server of alcohol – though while we were there I think their liquor license had been pulled – you’re guaranteed to have a good time.
